Thurberising Lennon

With the thirtieth anniversary of the murder of John Lennon yesterday, “The Reader’s Almanac,” the official blog of The Library of America, threw down a nice entry on the influence of James Thurber on Lennon’s writing, drawing, and overall thinking. In my PBS region last night, LennonNYC, part of the “American Masters” series, aired again. It is an excellent documentary on Lennon, his relationship with NYC, and the man’s political musicianship. Definitely worth a look.
